  1. Well all right, I don’t know what to say or think about this, but it seems I may be having pre-menopause. I’m 37, and while I still experience my “cycle”, I’ve had some spotting between periods, been gaining weight (when I’m taking prescription medication from an m.d. to help me lose weight) and for the past three weeks I’ve had night sweats and one swollen breast to go along with everything else. The doctor who prescribed the weight loss medication (I saw him yesterday) said the weight gain, night sweats, spotting, & one swollen breast are all “hormonal” symptoms, indicating that I’m in pre-menopause (I know, the clinical term is peri-menopause). My mother (a woman who at 69 doesn’t admit to ever having had menopause) says the doctor is full of shit, he doesn’t know anything about menopause because he’s a man, I’m gaining weight because I eat everything & I should starve myself. If I ‘m gaining weight because I’m eating, why the blue fuck do I sweat like a wildebeest every night, and more importantly, WHAT CAN I DO/INGEST TO NOT SWEAT LIKE A WILDABEAST?

    Should I look into taking hormones? Should I chew tree bark? What?


    • Thank you Cara for writing in! I am not a medical doctor but I am a 39 year old woman that is experiencing A LOT of the same symptoms as you are. So girl you are not alone in this mess called Perimenopause. The most common symptoms are :
      •Hot flashes
      •Breast tenderness
      •Worse premenstrual syndrome
      •Lower sex drive
      •Irregular periods
      •Vaginal dryness; discomfort during sex
      •Urine leakage when coughing or sneezing
      •Urinary urgency (an urgent need to urinate more frequently)
      •Mood swings
      •Trouble sleeping
      Sexy huh? I know right! So it seems to me, that you are going through the start of the change girl. WooHoo no more periods, no more sanitary products and now you can wear your sexy panties every day of the month. So in a lot of ways this is not so bad. I look forward to Aunty Flo going into retirement. That bitch took up enough of my time.

      The biggest issue in your question, in my opinion, is the way your mother approached the topic. Do not starve yourself, that is not cute nor is it healthy. Also, just because your doctor happens to have a penis does not mean he is ignorant of menopause. I am assuming he did go to medical school. This kinda makes him a bit of a vag expert. Flaunt those new found sexy curves hun and for God sakes enjoy your damn food.

      As for your night sweats I recommend Estroven. It is all natural and I feel it is really effective. Tree bark is not a good idea, I would not recommend 0 out of 10.
